My choir has a 4-day trip to Mallorca planned in October 2010 and the only travel options we have been given are flights. Is there a way to get there overland that isn't too expensive? Someone suggested a train to Barcelona and a boat - is that the best way? I don't mind if it takes longer and I realise it will be more expensive than Easyjet etc whatever I do.

My son lives in/on Ibiza --- the ferry fares to the Balearic Islands are the most expensive in the world --- i would suggest looking at these first -- Transmediterania sail

I know there are ferries which go from Barcelona to Alcudia and Palma. There are also ferries from Valencia and Denia to Mallorca. I would have thought that the Barcelona route would be the best option due to regular trains running there. Having said that it might be worth looking at the other routes to see if there is much difference in ferry ticket costs.
